Before the first update to ICD-10 in 2016, the code set had been frozen for five years. Since regular updates have resumed, a virtual flood of changes has been unleashed, and with it serious implications for home health coders. This year, there are hundreds of updates, some of which are in areas of great importance to home health such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, and non-pressure chronic ulcers.

Coders need to be informed of the new, deleted, and revised codes that will take effect on October 1, as well as the changes to the Tabular List and Alphabetic Index and the updates to the official coding guidelines, so they can appropriately capture patients’ conditions, stay in compliance, and get all the reimbursement to which they’re entitled.

Join expert speaker Tricia A. Twombly, RN, BSN, HCS-D, HCS-O, HCS-H, HCS-C, COS-C, CHCE, as she helps participants understand the key updates to the FY2018 code set. Attendees will learn how the changes will impact the codes they use most often and learn to identify which areas of coding need the most detailed documentation. Twombly will ensure participants are prepared to implement coding changes based on the updated code set and know how to apply the changes made to the Tabular List and Alphabetic Index that will impact home health coding.
