The Association of Home Care Coding & Compliance's (AHCC) and its credentialing body, the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance (BMSC), introduce the Associate Program! The Associate Program is designed to provide the fundamentals of home health-,and/or OASIS.

The Associate Program is your first step in the path toward mastering the basics of coding or OASIS — prepare to earn your Home Care Coding Associate (HCA), or Home Care OASIS Associate (HOA) certificate. 
Candidates who earn a coding (HCA) or OASIS (HOA) certificate demonstrate that they have a basic knowledge of that area of specialization and are positioned for future growth and more rigorous credentials. Minimize the stress of training with:

Home Care Coding Associate (HCA)

Introductory courses must be completed before taking diagnosis courses. Diagnosis courses may be taken in any order, but AHCC recommends the study order listed below.

  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Neoplasms
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for the Endocrine System
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Mental, Behavioral and Neurodevelopmental Disorders
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Diseases of the Nervous System
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Diseases of the Circulatory System and Respiratory System
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Diseases of the Digestive and Genitourinary Systems
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Diseases of the Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System and Coding for Signs, Symptoms and Abnormal Findings
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for Injury and Poisoning
  • ICD-10-CM Coding for External Causes of Morbidity and Factors Influencing Health Status


Upon successful completion of the final exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, the candidate will receive a Certificate of Completion identifying them as a Home Care Coding Associate.
